Gloria Hunt (caregiver)

We are caring for my dad, 76 years old. He got Early onset senile dementia at about age 68. It has been a long slow road. I am thankful for that part because we have been able to enjoy our dad. Within the last year, the decline has been rapid and painful. He stopped remembering our names and the conversations stopped. In November 2019, he landed in the hospital because he could no longer walk. He is now laying in bed – no walking – talking. But the look in his eyes tells me – I am still here – I know you are family. Hospice stopped coming due to COVID. It’s been so hard. He is like a light slowly fading but I see the flickers that tell me he is still there. Have hope that your loved ones are listening – talk to them as if they could answer you. Hug them and kiss them because they are still here with us. –Gloria Hunt
