Faces of Alzheimer's

Raising Awareness through our Faith Communities

Dear Faith Leaders,

We invite you to help raise awareness and honor those in your community who are facing the life-changing challenges of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

Individuals living with Alzheimer’s and their family caregivers often experience emotional, financial, and physical strain. They may feel overwhelmed and uncertain about the future as they face this progressive and terminal disease. This is a difficult time, but it’s helpful to know that one’s faith community is supportive and understanding.

There are many meaningful ways that you can bring attention to the needs of families affected by Alzheimer’s disease at your house of worship. For example, you might host an Alzheimer’s disease education event for interested members of your congregation or lead a special prayer for those with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.

To help you get started, we have provided you with key talking points about Alzheimer’s disease and a list of ideas on how to involve your congregation.

There are 600,000 individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease including caregivers and those with the disease. It’s important for families to have a place to turn to for support and assistance. Your congregation can be one place.
