COVID-19 Coronavirus Update

Dear Friends,

Like all of you, we continue to carefully monitor the news surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We want to make the best possible decisions about how we proactively respond to the challenges that COVID-19 is creating for our communities and most especially for New Jersey families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. We know how important support and education is for those caring for persons with dementia especially during these unpredictable times.

We are all learning how to navigate our lives during this difficult period.  While we have had to make rapid changes in the way we deliver our services; Alzheimer’s New Jersey is here for you – creating new ways to bring you programs that provide resources, information and guidance.

Here are some details on how we have modified our programs to best continue to serve you.

  • Our Family Support Groups are being offered by Webinar and phone conference; facilitated by our knowledgeable staff and trained volunteers.  These groups continue our goal to provide caregivers, their families, and friends with the emotional support and education they need to better understand and manage Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
  • As always, our Helpline (1-888-280-6055) is available Monday – Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. You can speak to a dementia expert on our staff about helpful resources, tips for managing day-to-day tasks as a caregiver, and so much more!
  • Our Community Education Programs are available by Webinar and phone and provide valuable information and guidance. The schedule is updated weekly.
  • We have developed a series of Tips of the Day for minimizing the spread of Coronavirus and the stress related to it when caring for someone with dementia. You can find these on our website and social media.  In the meantime, visit the CDC page which you can access on our website for up-to-date information on how to keep you and your loved one safe.

Registration for our Support Groups and Education Programs is required.  This can be done on our website at www.alznj.org.  The registration process is easy. When you register, you will receive confirming information as to how to access a specific program.  If you have any questions, please call our Helpline.

If you have not already done so, sign up to receive our program updates and newsletters.   At the beginning of each week, you will receive our Monday Update which will give you an overview of our program schedule and other important announcements.

Our goal is to help you have the best days possible during these difficult times.  We know that caregivers need to be vigilant to make sure they and their loved ones with dementia remain safe not only now and but throughout the year.

While we might all feel isolated given the restrictions on our lives right now – Alzheimer’s New Jersey is here for you.  We are only a phone call away.  Connect with us!!

I am proud to say that our programs are making a real impact, helping people get through this time of unprecedented uncertainty.  As one Support Group participant said, “Thank you for giving me hope. “

Call us and sign up for our ongoing programs!

Thank you for your continued support, understanding and generosity. Please know that our commitment to you is unwavering.

Be healthy.  Be safe.  We are in this together.
