The Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter provides
a broad range of local programs and services for people with
Alzheimer's disease, their families and caregivers.
Helpline is a toll free telephone service that provides emotional
support, information about Alzheimer's disease, and community
information and referral assistance to callers in a personal
& professional manner.
The Respite Care Program for Caregivers enables
families to obtain the temporary relief that they so vitally
need in order to reduce the heavy demands associated with
caring for someone 24 hours per day. We provide important
respite care information and financial assistance.
Support group programs provide families and caregivers with
the emotional support and education they need to better understand
Alzheimer's disease. We offer community support group programs
throughout the fourteen counties served by our Chapter.
Individuals with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia disorders
can lose their ability to recognize familiar places and faces,
and become lost in their own neighborhoods or when they are
away from home. The Safe Return Program provides assistance
in locating persons who wander and become lost. Through Safe
Return, help is available from the national office and local
chapter offices, seven days a week, 24 hours a day every day,
whenever a person is lost or found.
Our Learning Institute provides education and training programs
throughout the communities we serve for family caregivers.
Programs range from basic education to specialized training
programs on managing challenging behaviors, enhancing communication,
and developing meaningful activities.
The Alzheimer's Association is a major supporter of research
into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure of Alzheimer's
disease. This site provides information about current research
developments, as well as information about the Association's
programs for researchers.
